Mubarik Yusuf Dheeg, 25, was born and bred in Hargeisa. Graduated last year with a degree in Urban management. He started writing poems out of curiosity and interest. He used to read and listen to poems a lot and eventually began writing his own poetry. He writes all the different types of Somali poetry. His first poem was about the importance of education. He uses his poetry to inspire people, entertain his soul and to create awareness about social issues.

Mursal Dahir Caynte, 35, was born in Abudwak in Galgudud region in Somalia. He started writing poetry when he was 17. His first poem was about love and he performed it in a wedding. He focuses on social justice and dreams of becoming a leading figure in Somali poetry who uses his work to advance development and peaceful coexistence.

Rahma Hussein Huriye, 26, was born in a village in Somaliland, comes from a family of poets. Her granddad was a poet, her father occasionally writes poems and her two brothers are also poets. She has been writing poetry since childhood but only started sharing with the public in 2015. Her poetry mainly covers social issues including women’s affairs.
